Large antique French Holy Water Font, or benitier. The figure of Christ on the cross in white metal is supported on a black wooden cross with carved edges and a fretwork design above the font.

The cross is held with decorative fixings at each point; above the figure of Christ is a ribbon stamped SOUVENIR DE N.D. (Notre Dame / Our Lady) DE LOURDES.

The font has been well-loved. The figure has some shiny patches where it has been rubbed, as well as some loss to shops the finish. The font is water-marked inside. The woodwork shows signs of age. All of this is totally authentic for an item over 100 years old. I have just given it a light clean.

On the back is a loop for hanging on the wall. This is stamped MR PARIS.

Size is approx. 12.5" (32cm) x 6 " (15.5cm) x 3" (7.5cm).
