Sami Cuff Links - Swedish Reindeer shops Horn

Wonderful pair of Sami reindeer horn cufflinks. On each cufflink is incised (scrimshaw) with an image of a shaman in the style that is found on traditional Sami shaman's drums. The cross sections of reindeer horn are used, and the more porous inner section gives the effect of an ancient artwork. The cuff links are backed with birchbark.

The Sami (Saami) are an indigenous group of people living in Scandinavia and neighboring parts of Russia. Reindeer are a sign of wealth amongst those families that herd reindeer for a living. Virtually all parts of the reindeer are used shops for anything from food to crafts.
