Short Story: Approx 50 years ago I started collecting Antiques, Was at A shop or show and bought a compact that looked a lot like this one. It was about 1 " longer and had a slot at the bottom. I was buying it from an elderly Woman & I asked her what the slot was for. She said it was for a Nickel, & was there in case the young Ladies Gentleman Friend was not treating her nice, She used the nickel to call home or to get a cab.
