This is a mug I threw on the wheel using a cone 6 white stoneware body.
I used slip to create raised lines to draw overlapping circles on the outside. This drawing process is also known as slip trailing. I've seen this pattern on kimono called a "shippo”
(七宝) pattern.
I made three cups that are this same drawing idea!
Mug A: 4.5 inches tall, holds 17 fl oz
Mug B: 4.4 inches tall, holds 17 fl oz
Mug C: 4.4 inches tall, holds 18 fl oz
The flowers are spot-glazed with a glossy pink glaze and a glossy speckled red glaze. Beemo is spot-glazed with a glossy light green glaze. The rest of the outside of the cup is glazed in shops glossy pink on the bottom and glossy bronze with blue on the top.
The inside of the cup is glazed with a food safe white glaze.
