Sorbus aucuparia - Rowan (Mountain Ash) Cut out shops Edge -Pure Silver Leaf Earrings by Quintessential Arts
My leaf work is not cast, but each piece cut completely by hand with meticulous detail.
These earrings are made from a baby rowan plant, respectfully taken from a forest near where I was living in Germany. While it is made of a leaf, it also quite resembles a feather. It makes me think that the plant is more "air" than I had expected, though I have since learned that birds love the berries.
The leaf portion is 34 mm long and 9 mm across at its widest.
Total earring length is 53 mm, about 2 1/8 inches.
The back of the leaf is smooth.
Silver metal clay is 99% pure silver containing recycled silver. I make my own molds or press a leaf directly into the clay, each one is unique. I form and cut, file, sand, and polish every piece by hand, then tumble it for strength and extra shine.
All other metal used is sterling silver, oxidized and lightly polished like an antiqued heirloom treasure if you so choose.
