shops This charming little figure was called a Guru by the manufacturer, Royalty Designs of Florida. RDF was involved in copyright issues with Thomas Dam, the original designer of troll dolls for years. RDF also made conventional troll dolls in addition to the Gurus.
This guy is made of hard vinyl just like the Dam trolls, even down to the exact color. His Icelandic wool hair is bright red and all original---recently given a gentle shampoo, so he's clean and fresh for you!
Some of these were marked on the bottom but some weren't. This guy isn't marked.
He has very faint staple marks in one hand so was most likely carrying a sign. I've seen these with stuff like "the End is Near". Cartoons about doomsayers with crazy long hair and beards were popular in the 60s.
Royalty Designs was licensed by Dam to produce their trolls in the US but others copied them and it turned into a giant legal mess that went on for many years. I couldn't find any evidence that Thomas Dam designed these Gurus, though they look Dam-ish for sure. They're kind of hard to find.
I think he'd look really great sitting on a stack of books!
Condition is very good, no chew marks, no stains. Clean hair!
