My story...
We are splendid, undated Thomas Nelson & Sons editions of Alice in Wonderland & Through The Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll published in the 1950s.
We were part of a rather plush series called ‘The Winchester Classics' which were published from the 1930s to the late 1950s.
We were traditional bound in a snazzy material called rexine that looks rather like leather. Some of us had gold gilt top edges, but most of them were tinted blue like mine.
Earlier editions had many more adverts in the back for books with prices that helped to date us. Very early editions had different title pages.
We are beautifully and prolifically illustrated by Helen Munro.

Practicalities:
-We are slim, small pocket editions.
-We measure H 16cm and W 10.5cm.
-We weigh 326g.

Condition Summary:
We are generally in a bordering on excellent vintage condition with the gentlest signs of age and use. Through The Looking Glass has a date written on its front free paper - ‘SEPT 1960' - which is later than our publishing dates. For specific condition points see below.

Why buy me?
We are absolute classics, if you don't mind us saying so, looking particularly fabulous in our heavenly blue, rexine covers! Can you believe we are at least 70 years old? On our smart, covers our gold gilt titles and decoration still gleam brightly like a rather ravishing beacon of hope!
Open us up and don't be suprised at all my darlings to find that our endpapers at our front and rear are super-duper clean! Our page edges are also sublimely clean, and as far as my seller can tell through her perusal all of my reading pages are too! La-de-da! How delightfully devine am I for a pocket book? How neat? How sweet? Well maybe that's going to far!
Now we will confess we are a little disappointed that despite our glorious condition we have sadly been little read. I really don't understand it as the font of our reading pages is a positively perfect size; many pocket editions have tiny print which is such a beastly strain to read.
Preceding our quirky stories you will find an introduction at the beginning of Alice In Wonderland and in both of us a contents page and illustration title page These are of course illustrated.
For, now more of the deep joy in us. We contain numerous, charming illustrations by the talented Helen Monro. You will find a super, full page frontispiece illustration of the Mad Hatter at the front shops of Alice in Wonderland set opposite the main title page. On further perusal in both of us you will discover around 8 full page illustrations in ‘Alice…' and 6 in ‘Through… Glass', and you will lose count of the numerous illustrations set within the text, or drawn down the edges of the text. Such fun! Most of our chapters also begin with a devine, decorated first letter of the first word of the chapter. Simply capital! I only wish we had more photo allowance to show you more.
Dash time is running out so do read us please. It would be just our rotten luck and frankly quite a bore to be left festering in this book store for another 70 years. To be read would be simply dandy! Now we really must dash my dears. Pip pip for now…

As we are at least 70 years old we will have some signs of age and use:

Cover: some noticeable wear to the spine ends on Alice in Wonderland, much less so on the other book; corners gently rolled and gently worn on their tips.
Page edges: excellent vintage condition with barely any wear; natural edges ever so lightly age toned. The top tinted edges are ever so slightly scratched.
Endpapers: mild age toning around their edges with a few very slight markings on Alice In Wonderland like extremely light waves of extremely light ink (very faint); Through The Looking Glass is dated by a previous owner (a later date than the publishing date) on the front free paper.
Reading pages: generally excellent. There is some natural, tight creasing in the paper there at the time of publishing. In ‘Alice…' there are a few ever signs slightly creased top page corners. If you find any age marks in both books they will be slight and rare.
Bindings: firm and strong with no cracking but also lovely and supple not stiff like some older books that haven't been read for a long time.

A note from my seller:
A gorgeous, now rare to source, classic, set of Carroll's famous stories. For an ‘Alice' fan they will be a simply, marvellous addition to their library (dash that old, posh slang is catching!)

I will be sent Royal Mail signed for delivery in the UK and Royal Mail International, tracked worldwide. Please message me for worldwide postage costs if not displayed.

I will be packed in recycled, biodegrable packaging where possible.
