Product code: Vintgage Traditional shops Mexican Hand Loomed Wool Rebozo/Shawl with Clay 'Day of the Dead' Ornament

This traditional beige/brown hand loomed Mexican wool shawl or 'rebozo' was inherited from my husband's great aunt who lived in Mexico from the 1940's through to her death in 1994. She was a writer and fascinated by all things Mexican and collected a wide array of traditional Mexican art and handicrafts.

She was always fonder of the subtler 'real' textiles; the ones actually worn by the local women and not those of synthetic materials woven often in gaudy bright colours exclusively for the 'tourista' market.

This rebozo would have been plenty warm enough for wrapping around oneself (or often around oneself and ones infant child) and certainly long enough to wrap as a sling for carrying objects to and from the market, often great distances.

Said to be circa 1940's. Measures 77.5" x 37" / 197 x 94 cm. In very good vintage condition. Worn thin on one or two very tiny spots but no repairs, stains , holes or odours (mine is a pet and smoke free home.)

I have paired this shawl with a handmade unpainted red clay 'Day of the Dead' themed small wall ornament.( I've occasionally also worn it as a brooch by attaching the wire hook embedded in the back to a safety pin...)

It measures 3.5" x 3.5" / 9 x 9 cm. In perfect condition.

A central skull with hat is surrounded by 5 smaller skull forms and numerous leaves all attached by wire. Should you wish to actually wear this as a pendant I will include a length of leather cord to turn it into a unique necklace! date unknown.

The rebozo can be used as a throw blanket for the chilly evening winters that are just around the corner or as a rustic styled table runner. You will not be disappointed!

The Fine Print:

***I'm a woman who loves to travel and have spent a ‘longish' and lucky lifetime exploring different parts of the world. Many of the items I list have at one time been used, worn and/or displayed in my home.

My aim is to be scrupulously accurate in the description of the articles I sell. Take the time to look closely at the photos. I regard them as key when ascertaining condition. Many of my shops items are older and, with age comes wrinkles (trust me I know!). Often it's the ‘flaws' that give an item its charm and character.

Payment is through ‘Direct Checkout/Etsy Payments' or Paypal.

Even though I limit my shipping destinations in the Etsy app to North America, I will consider shipping items worldwide. Please contact me for an accurate overseas shipping quote. Customs/import duties are always the buyer's responsibility.

I do not accept ‘buyer's remorse' returns but if the item you purchase is damaged en-route or differs in major respects from that which you thought you were purchasing, monies will be refunded. However, the item must be returned to me immediately (if only to cry over). Buyer pays return shipping.

To keep costs down, I always try to use clean recycled packing materials. Also, mine has always been a smoke-free home.
