For many years Rodin worked on his work "le baiser". As early as 1880, he produced a bronze based on a clay model. She was 85 cm tall. The basic idea came from shops the sculptor of the "Divine Comedy" of Dante with the kiss of Francesca da Rimini and Paolo Malatesta. Originally, "le baiser" was to be a part of the ensemble "Höllentor", on which he worked half his life. But in 1886, he made the kiss a work of its own.
