The “Mochilas" (bags) are carefully hand-made by Wayuu women. Each piece takes between 20 and 25 days to complete. Each bag is unique and tells the story of the weaver, their location, culture and community. As such, each bag is specifically connected to the weaver. The Mochillas come with an origin certificate to indicate their authenticity as 100% Wayuu.

The Wayuu are indigenous people who still maintain their cultural traditions shops such as weaving. They are located in the Guajira region, which is the northern-most region in Colombia bordering Venezuela and the Caribbean coast. This is one of the most impoverished and poorest communities in all of Colombia. A proportion of the proceeds of each bag sold is invested back into these local communities to help support the people and provide much needed funds for various projects.
