Handmade DE Safety Razor made with 125 year old shops American Chestnut with Gun Metal Grey finish

This Razor Gift set is a combination of very old and very new. This beautiful razor set was made using 125 year old American Chestnut wood. American Chestnut was used extensively 120 years ago for construction and furniture. Around that time, it was almost completely wiped out in a blight shops and has not been readily available as a wood source since.

This wood was part of a old beam removed during a renovation in a house built in Kingston, NY around 1892. It was replaced with regular pine lumber. I salvaged some of the old wood and have saved it for special projects like this set. I don't have much, and I probably won't ever get any more. This beam was from a tree cut around 1892 with more than 50 growth rings still visible. This indicates that the tree was alive and growing during the American Civil War.

This special wood was carefully turned, sanded, and then finished with many coats of hard clear CA acrylic for a beautiful and highly water resistant finish. It should hold up for years of use under normal wet shaving conditions. The finish on all metal parts is bright Gun Metal Grey.
