For Sale: A stunning "Derby" pattern Flow Blue Plate by Mercer. Plate is marked "Semi-Vitreous" china. (Semi-Vitreous means that the china can absorb 3% to 7% of water.) This beautiful Flow Blue plate is decorated with rust color and gold gilt trim/accents. The "Derby" pattern of this lovely plate features rust flowers large and small and geometric shapes with gold accent lines. Navy blue scrolls are accented with gold gilt trim as well.
Mercer Pottery Pottery Company Trenton, N.J. was established in 1865, Purchased by James Moses 1875. Ran successfully into 1930s.

This magnificent Flow Blue china is in excellent condition. There are NO chips, cracks, hairlines. repairs!! The plate shows very little wear. The gold on the rim is a little worn. The finish on this plate is still very glossy!

The Trenton Pottery Newsletter June/Oct 2010 refers to the "Derby" pattern as the only Imari style Flow Blue pattern made in Trenton by any of the potteries. A picture of a ladle of this pattern is shown in the newsletter. This pattern must be RARE. The experts on Mercer Pottery did not identify it by name by it's shops name "Derby!"
