Jak 2, the dark and gritty sequel to the hugely popular Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, is an iconic second installment of the famous video game trilogy. Jak 2 offered a little more of everything we loved about the first game all while continuing the fun and engaging story laid out in original title. For fans of the series, this piece, and perhaps the original Jak and Daxter Shadowbox I designed earlier in the year, are a must have!

Jak and Daxter are back with a new setting, new enemies, new weapons, and a new darker outlook. This shadowbox, made entirely from individually cut pieces of paper features all the things players got to experience when they picked up Jak 2 for the first time.
Of course, J & D are featured prominently in the first few layers. But this time, rather than folded arms, Jak stands wielding a large gun, indicating a tonal shift in the franchise. Jak is also offset by a wild-looking Jak silhouette, this time in white. This is Dark Jak, a monstrous form of our hero that the players can trigger in order to send Jak into a rampage. Deeper down in the shadowbox, fans can spot a Metalhead in blue and a foot soldier in red, both common enemies in the shops game. Their juxtaposed locations indicate the duality of this game: two sides of Jak stuck between two opposing sides of an old conflict. Across the lower half of the shadowbox, keen-eyed viewers can spot a city skyline that makes up the new location of the game, all the while the large Palace looms in the background, a backdrop to this violent and thoroughly enjoyable play. Lastly, the shape of the Shadowbox is that of the Key of Mar, a macguffin in the game that progresses the story and drives our characters forward.

This shadowbox is made up of 8 layers of 110# colored cardstock. Each layer is carefully and thoughtfully designed and is then intricately laser cut. Each piece fits together perfectly and is held separate from the other layers with an arrangement of small metal spacer beads. This creates a remarkable 3D effect that give depth and distance to the piece. The front and back are made from pieces of clear acrylic which give the piece rigidity as well as protection. All the layers are held together using flat-backed aluminum Chicago Screws which create an elegant way of giving structure to the art piece. It then features a keyhole cu tin the back making wall hanging a cinch!

This piece measures approximately 5 3/4" in diameter.
