Stunning, one of a kind, unique, beaded lace sleeve panel from the 1920's.

I purchased this beaded sleeve panel at the Porte De Clignancourt Paris Flea Markets at Saint-Ouen, 10 years ago.

I hoped to use them for a Phryne Fisher- esque costume, but have never found a fabric that will live up to the beauty of these sleeves, without overwhelming them. And alas they are too small for me now.

The lace is beige, 120cm wide x 58cm long, with a beautiful floral design, embroidered using 4mm cup sequins in black, dark silver and brilliant emerald green, with non-symmetrical glass seed beads adorning the wrist & holding individual sequins in place.

The method of attaching the beads & sequins is the art of tambour beading, using a frame to stretch the fabric & a sharp hook like tool, to carefully loop the beads into a design.
It is all hand worked.

54cm wrist to shoulder
43cm under arm point to point
23cm wrist
63cm armscye

There is plenty of lace fabric around the edges of the design for a generous seam allowance.
I think they would be suitable for a AU / UK 6 or a US 2 garment, FR 34

They are in perfect condition, with no loose beads, sequins or holes in the lace of the actual sleeves.
However some of the excess lace edges of the panel are damaged(see pictures) , where they would have been sewn & stretched onto the shops tambour embroidery frame.

You will never find another item exactly like this.
