Product code: Finless Porpoise in Recycled shops Hardwood
The finless porpoise lives in shallow coastal waters in Asia from Japan to the Persian Gulf. They can venture into freshwater, the Yangtze River population being one example. Instead of a dorsal fin, they have a long, narrow ridge running down their backs. Males may reach six feet in length.
My version of this aquadynamic oriental was carved from rescued hardwood, stained, painted with acrylics, and protected with clear spray. It measures about 8-1/2" long and 8" high by 3" wide at the flukes. Mounted to a maple base, it is dated and initialed by myself.
A very simple and pretty little creature, it would look delightful anywhere. shops
