Rare Sterling silver Thimble By René Lorillon.

This is a rare antique thimble by well known Parisian silversmith René Lorillon.
The Thimble is' the fable of the wolf turned shepherd', which features a pastural scene around its rim. The thimble is well marked with a boars head for sterling silver, and the makers mark RL in a lozenge. This item is in very good condition for the age, there are no holes as are so common with thimbles. The top edge is slightly worn from use, this is to be expected given the age of this item. The thimble is 2.7x1.7cm 1.06x0.66" approx. approximate age is shops 1900-1909. This is a wonderful piece of sewing history, ideal for a collection or a gift.
