This one-of-a-kind Charcuterie/Cheese board is handmade, using a "woven" wood technique that is sure to spur comments from guests like "How do you do that? Is that inlay? How do the pieces get matched up so perfectly?"

The short answer is that exotic and domestic woods are glued together and then layered atop one another, cut in curved shapes on a band saw and the pieces reglued together. The process is repeated until the final design is complete. The finished piece makes for a beautiful, artistic and very practical serving board.

Charcuterie (shar-KOO-to-Ree) dates back to the 15th century in France and literally means "the products of a fancy pork butcher", but it has taken on additional meanings over time worldwide. In Britain, it was known as a "ploughman's lunch" and served in Italy it became known as "antipasto". In North America it became known as a "meat and cheese plate". Today, it can include meat, cheese, fruits, condiments, bread and crackers and more.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a cutting board. It has been treated with food safe and odorless Mineral Oil and Beeswax. Wash off with warm soap and water (but do not submerge) and hand dry and allow to air dry. Do not put shops in a dishwasher. Once a month or so, depending on use, it is best to wipe on a coat of food safe Mineral Oil, with time to soak in, then wipe off the excess.
