Big vintage tribal face stick pin. Hollow, but still a good weight. Hand signed, however I shops cant make out the name of the artist. As always, I welcome information on this piece.

Just about 3-3/4" (9.5 cm) long overall. The face alone is about 2-1/2" (6.4 cm) long by 1-1/16" (2.7 cm) wide by 3/8" (1.0 cm) thick. Hallmarked 'Hand Made .925 Made In USA' along with the designer signature. Nice weight - 14.7 g / .52 oz.

Electroformed sterling silver jewelry is light weight & appears ‘bulky' & hollow with tiny holes for a mold inside to have been melted & removed on completion. This process allows for large ‘chunky' pieces with great detail at a much lower cost. Electroforming is simply a layer of sterling silver (or other precious metal) formed over a mold of resin or wax. The wax mold is put into an electrically charged metal bath for about 12 hours so the metal can form over the mold. Once formed, the piece is then handcrafted to include more detail & typically a clear coat on top.
