Nursery Rhymes Redux
I was born in 1961, but there is a nursery rhyme book from 1953 that I just adore. These decoupaged rhymes were selected along with another children's book to create this charming remembrance of the days when we read these cute short little rhymes every night at bed time. Everything on this mixed media piece called “Nursery Rhyme Redux” is true mid century vintage. The buttons, cabochons, crystals and jewelry findings give you a full mid century shops souvenir of all that was very sweet and special in that era. The little bunny is surrounded by tiny amethyst stones and the crystals sparkle in a lot in person. The outer frame is covered in small pieces of old book paper and buttons. I find these pieces are best without glass over them so you can really feel the texture of the work.
I think this looks even better in person, it so hard to capture its charm.
the canvas measures 12 inches by 9 in inches, and is covered on the outside in small buttons.
Everything I make is done with extreme love and care. I try to make the best decisions in terms of the glues, resins and paints, but if something should come off just grab some glue and affix it back. Art is human
