The Soviet Foreign Intelligence Service was formed in 1920 under the name INO (INostrannyi Otdel - Foreign Department) of the NKVD. It is now known as the Foreign Intelligence Service (Foreign Intelligence Service). The Directorate has changed its name several times:
1941 - First Directorate of the NKGB
1952 - First Main Directorate of the MGB
After the reorganizations associated with the death of Stalin, the execution of Beria and the collapse of the MGB, for a short time the SVR (Sluzhba Vnehnei Razvedki) was subordinated to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD)
Since 1954, foreign intelligence has remained under the control of the State Security Committee (KGB of the USSR).

The first main directorate always avoided attention and the badges of this service almost did not exist. In the entire history of its existence, only two SVR bades were made - for the 50th and 60th anniversary of its foundation. Its recipients - most of whom were VIP veterans of the department - did not wear the badge.
These badges were presented at ceremonial meetings dedicated to the anniversary of the SVR. The badges were kept in the workplace or at home.
