This doll has been hand sewn. She is 15 inches tall and made from muslin cotton and shops tightly stuffed with some type of cloth or cotton. Her body, clothing, and facial features have all been hand stitched and remain intact without tears in the seams. The dress hem has been machine stitched. The dress has been fitted and sewn to the doll. The fabric has faded to a brown/tan color but it originally was a pink print. This can be seen under the closure at the back of the dress. There is a petticoat under the skirt of the dress, and it is also sewn to the doll. There is age related discoloration to the dress and body of the doll, and one dark stain on the front of the dress. The neck of the doll is narrow and some of it's stuffing has slipped so the doll's head will not stand upright unless propped. At some point the owner used a safety pin to support the head a bit, and that is still in place. It can be removed without any harm to the doll. The little hat is made of brown fabric with a top decoration made of the dress fabric.
This doll has survived over a century and remains in remarkable condition. It appears she was lovingly cared for and constructed by a talented amateur doll maker. She is very special.
