Vintage California Pottery Rooster Platter by Gene shops Frank Ceramic Judaica

This is a California pottery platter, hand shops painted and signed by artist Gene Frank. Gene Frank and his wife Leslie Gattman started a business called Ceramic Judaica during the mid-1970s. Although they primarily made items related to Judaism, Frank made items decorated with this rooster design. The platter is hand signed on its underside with “Gene Frank Hand Made Calif U.SA. #817”. The platter measures 10 1/2” by 12 1/2”. It is in very good condition no chips, cracks or wear. This platter shape featuring the rooster design does not appear to be common - these rooster dishes in general don't seem to be plentiful. Gene Frank passed away in 1998, Nice display platter - wonderful addition to a California pottery collection or someone interested in Frank's work!
