A beautiful miniature edition of The New Testament of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ: Translated out of the Original Greek and with the Former Translations Diligently Compared and Revised by His Majesty's Special Command. Appointed to be read in Churches
Undated antique shops edition, published circa 1910-1920s and printed at the Cambridge University Press
This little book is bound in a dark coloured leather on soft boards, with gilt title to spine. Rounded corners, full gilt page edges. Black end papers, previous owners gift inscription to fly page. Full page colour illustration plates to frontispiece and half title pages, as well as several other plates throughout this charming book. Pages are bright and largely clear with a few folded corners and the odd speck of foxing throughout. Original ribbon marker present
Binding is sound though there is an overall slant to this volume, as is common with miniature books that have spent years travelling in people's pockets and bags. Some markings and scratching to gilt edges. Rubbing around corners and edges of the leather boards and spine, some areas of light chipping to binding and fraying to ribbon marker
