In Tibetan Buddhism, "Hum" or "Hung" is a powerful sacred syllable representing the Medicine Buddha of healing. The Medicine Buddha is known for his blue skin, holding a healing plant, and a bowl containing medicinal fruit. It is said that concentrating on his energy can bring physical, mental and emotional healing.
I carefully affixed (handmade) beige Nepalese fiber paper with a floral design onto the illustration board. Then, I painted a gold circle, a blue dissolving aura in the inside of the circle, and Hum (Hung), the Tibetan Buddhist sacred seed syllable. Incidentally, Hum is the last syllable in the mantra OM Mani Padme Hung -- symbolizing both the Medicine Buddha and Vajrasattva, the Buddha of Purification.
Finally, I later added high-gloss varnish inside the circle, making the design shine in the light. After drying, I signed the piece, on the back, with my red Chinese stamp.
I will ship this carefully wrapped, flat & ready to frame, protected with card board backing & cello
sleeve. Note that this piece comes unmatted.
