Small hand sewn black fine cotton jacket with shops gold couched embroidery panel collar. Hill tribe garment

This beautiful little black jacket is entirely made by hand with each piece precisely cut and carefully sewn together. The cloth is very fine. I'm not sure whether it is cotton or silk or a combination I think it likely that the black fabric is silk. The exterior of the jacket is a soft black, the interior is a lacquer red. Inset panels allow it to flare at the bottom from rosettes and ties that are attached at the waist.

It is such an elegant shape!

The jacket is in very good condition overall though there are stains in the lining (see photos please) and there are a few scattered tiny holes in the black fabric. One would have to search in sunlight to find them.

I've searched and searched without being able to locate the origin of the item. It belonged to a traveler who left an estate of textiles to the charity I bought it from. The textiles in the collection varied widely in origin. A Date of late mid century and perhaps a golden triangle origin seems likely. Information from a more informed person would be deeply appreciated!!!

The embellished band that runs around the collar from just above the waist on each side, is 2 12” wide.

Across the shoulders, seam to seam - 22” flat.

Across the waist - 15” flat.

Shoulder seam to wrist hem - 15 1/4”

Wrist - 4” flat.

Nape to hem (excluding decorative band - 20 1/4”
