Copyright 1933 and 1935, published 1933 and 1935 by Hodder and Stoughton (London). Stated "First Published 1933" for Volume I and "First printed August 1935" on Volume II of the copyright page.

Dust jackets show 12/6 NET on the front inside flap. Jackets fit loosely and have several large pieces missing, large chips and several tears greater than 3-inches, significant soiling, wrinkles and creases, heavy sunfade and tanning (particularly the spine), heavy nicks and scratches, edgewear, and rubbing marks from shelfwear.

Volume I is heavily cracked in multiple locations such as pages 80-81 and 160-161. Hard creases in both volumes (notably pages 94-95 and 174-175 of Volume 1, pages 142-143 in Volume 2). Smudges, spots, and soiling in pages throughout both books. Pastedowns and endpapers have binding glue that has tanned; volume 1 has some white substance on the front endpaper. Ex-libris sticker on the front pastedowns, with small pencil notations on the rear pastedown of both volumes; shops there does not appear to be any other writing in the text. Overall, these books are in Acceptable or Fair condition.
