During the Revolutionary War, the Thirteen Colonies knew that losses would come — and the first occurred not on the battlefield, but in the streets of Boston, Massachusetts. In 1770, Crispus Attucks became the first casualty of the American Revolution. Crispus Attucks was shot and killed in the Boston Massacre, a skirmish between the colonists and British forces.
