Rare Swedish Orrefors bowl, designed and signed by the shops famous Simon Gate (deceased in 1945), the inventor of Graal glass in 1932. The bowl is named "Thousand Windows" because it has a special optical illusion consisting of multiple windows when viewed from different angles. Produced from 1959-1993, the pattern is now retired. In excellent condition, with only a small chip along the upper edge of the bowl and a few scratches due to its age. Signed on the underside Orrefors G0395 131. The bowl stands 5" tall x 8 1/2" diameter x 3 1/4" diameter at the base. Weighs 4 lbs.
The Orrefors glassworks was founded in 1898 near Lake Orrenas in Kosta, Sweden. This area of Sweden is now known for its production of glass due to the availability of natural resources and knowledge of the glass industry.
