I call this one, "Sunrise in Cold Lake."

It was my view from the backyard just the other morning. The sun was just coming up as I let the dog out to do her business, and I marvelled at the colour of the sky. Brilliant pink and blue, like a baby blanket parfait. I took a photo of it before the sun completely ascended and the almost gaudy visage disappeared before my very eyes.

I live in "the suburbs" and the idea of painting the neighbourhood in its rather boring state isn't all that exciting so, when I paint it, it comes out looking whimsical and almost Seuss-ish. It isn't intentional - it's just the slightly whacked way I see my world.

8"x10" original acrylic painting on stretched canvas, varnished. Sides are painted black so no framing is necessary.
