Art Deco shops Cut Crystal Necklace Period Piece Old Thumb Ridge Ring Clasp

ITEM: This gorgeous necklace has some truly amazing cut crystals in clear and dark purple colors. The drop pendant is designed to look like a drippy flower, with the purple bud topped by an elegantly cut topper. The crystals all fit together perfectly. I'm not sure what the cut is called but they sure look great! Moving up from the drop crystal, floral look motif, a single faceted round bead anchors the pendant. Glass pipets adorn each hand built link. A trio of cut crystals to either side create some drama, two clear stones fitted together with a single purple stone. Pointed edges continuing that floral vine and leaf look. At least, that's how the design reads to my eye. Square cut glass beads anchor the trio to either side of the drop and the rest of the chain are those clear glass trumpet beads or pipets. The clasp is one of those old style, transitional spring rings, the kind with a ridge that your thumb catches to open. These were typical for the era. The necklace looks to be a period piece. Anywhere from the 20s to 40s by my best guess. The use of real crystal really elevates the sparkle factor here. Those stones both reflecting and refracting the available light to throw sparks in rainbow spectrum. Truly lovely to behold! Unsigned, high end make and materials. A dazzling little piece of high quality and style.

SIZE: This beautiful necklace has a length of 19” end to end. The drop is 1 1/2” long.

CONDITION: In good vintage condition showing minimal wear apparent. No missing beads and no signs of replacement or repair. Minimal flea bites. One small coink on one edge of one of the clear crystals, at the spot they meet. No cracks or breaks noted. Surprisingly well preserved really, I mean; this crystal beaded necklace is 80-100 years old! There is age on the metals. They're a brassy tone and do have significant patina built up in the links themselves. The metals may once have had a thin gold wash but that's largely gone at this point. Careful cleaning will brighten the metals up however and I see no evidence of rust or verdigris. The clasp is intact and functional. This is a very good example of type, age and make, in pretty great shape for her age. Tons of life in her yet; very wearable vintage.
