I have a real fondness for some of the cleaner mid-century designs by the Toronto jewellery manufacturer Boyd Bond. This is by far the most beautiful example of their work that shops I've seen. The organic forms of the design engage the imagination. Is it a spray of flowers? A seahorse? A musical notation?
The brooch is in excellent condition. It features wire work, fully backed, prongset rhinestones in two colours; ice blue and clear. There are blue chatons and baguettes and a large trianguloid clear rhinestone setting off the others. There are smooth and textured silver surfaces.
The mount of the clear crystal has a raised cartouche stamped with BOYD BOND
