Antique 1862 Valentines Day Card, Civil War Era, Deep Red Heart, Embossed Paper, Victorian Era shops Vintage Valentine, Mid 1800s 1860s
Antique Valentine's Day card from 1862, Civil War era, with posted envelope still present. About 160 years old! The card is paper with some embossed border details, and the deep red heart in the center has some metallic gold flowers inside. I can't tell if the heart is paper glued to the card, or if it's ink. It looks like ink, but there's some slight puckering on close inspection. The tiny verse seems rather passionate in that the recipient was a man's sister-in-law. This is noted in pencil on the back of the card. The interior of the card is blank. See condition issues below. USED, with writing on back side. Thin paper. About 7” tall by 4.75” wide, with envelope slightly larger.
