This is a museum quality Civil War Relic. It is from the 76th shops Regiment of the Illinois Volunteer Union Army Infantry based out of Kankakee, Illinois. The 76th had a long history in the Civil War including fighting under General Grant and Sherman at several locations such as the seige of Vicksburg.
