On July 5th 1991, the Florida Marlins were officially announced as Major League Baseball's next expansion team along with the Colorado Rockies. Both teams began play in 1993. This is the teal alternate the team wore beginning in 1993 before moving toward a more black-centric set in shops 1996/97. The second button from the top is missing as pictured, but doesn't impact the closure of the jersey due to the button's location (very close to the top button and wordmark).
