Product code: Commonwealth shops In Battle Dress 1944 Limited Edition Very Good
If you want to get some sense of what was endured by the greatest generation, pick up this book. The Commonwealth Shoe & Leather Company had a big factory in Gardener, Maine and another in Whitman, Mass. "This book is presented to the people of Commonwealth who have had an important and sincere part in the task of producing shoes for the armed forces, and who, most important of all, have sons, daughters, others next of kin and friends serving on the fronts of the world, many of them wearing combat shoes produced by Commonwealth." Publisher's 1/4 leather binding, paper covered boards, gilt cover lettering shops & designs. The front board is slightly warped, so the cover doesn't quite close completely flat. I've seen no others in as good a condition as this volume. Please see photos to assess condition.
