This vintage mid-century German stein with a hunter motif has a Swiss music box that plays Auf Wiedersehn. It is a large traditional German beer stein with a pewter lid shops that was made in Germany in the early 60's. The beer tankard has been created from glazed ceramic and decorated with two hunting dogs with pheasants in their mouths. There is a large outside scene of two hunters one drinking beer and the other eating a meal being served by a beer maid. Two dogs are begging for food at their feet. It features a flip top metal lid decorated with arabesque patterns. There are two German inscriptions on the stein: "Im Wald und auf der Haide", and "Da such ich meine Freude". The English translation is "In the forest and on the heath" "I search for my joy". The stein is 10.5" tall and is 5" in diameter. Please look at the pictures to see the condition.
