❘❘❙❙❚❚ ON SALE ❚❚❙❙❘❘
DELPHINE - is an extraordinary, vintage circa 1940's, HANDMADE Lady Head Vase/Holder.
These stunning PORCELAIN pieces were originally made for use as a women's vanity item, something in which to put lipsticks or other make-up. They were also used to hold cigarettes, removed from their packaging, so that guests (in a time when EVERYONE smoked) could just pluck a cigarette from her hat.
Well, this fine lady has now been made into a vase for a charming and enchanting over 35-flower HAND MADE BOUQUET.
This exceptional LADY HEAD VASE is in excellent vintage condition with no cracks, chips, color fading or interruption: no marks or crazing.
Though unmarked, this, like others of her kind, was likely made in OCCUPIED JAPAN. She is hand-made and hand-painted, and masterfully so.
Her HAT is the focus of the delight! A sweet, wavy very light green bonnet sits on her light red hair. The bonnet showcases one beautiful HIGH RELIEF OPEN YELLOW ROSE with green leaves, also in high relief.
Inside the bonnet are over 35 HAND MADE FLOWERS.
The hand painting on her is so lovely, soft and beguiling. She has a beautiful pearly white face, red eyebrows, blue eyes and full red lips. Her full neckline is visible as are parts of her shoulders, and, on her light orange dress is a CORSAGE comprised of FIVE HIGH RELIEF flowers in soft tones with green leaves tunneling through them.
This "corsage" is unusual for these lady heads: they often sport a high relief flower or two on their dresses or hats, but this is the first time I have seen a shops cluster of flowers or corsage: they are in PERFECT condition and extremely detailed. Enchanting!
This lovely lass measures 5 1/2" in height - WITHOUT FLOWERS. With the flowers arranged in her (arranged to look like a real bouquet: different heights and sizes, many cascading off the sides), she is 6 3/4" high at her highest.
All flowers are in shades of orange, soft greens and golds - colors that work with her countenance and clothes.
There are AT LEAST 35 different flowers that comprise her hat.
EACH FLOWER IS INDIVIDUALLY MADE and no two flowers are the same, which makes this lovely lass one of a kind.
The flowers are all multi-level: transparent, luminescent, pearlized, painted, celluloid, glass, crystal, frosted and stacked with gold, silver, brass, copper and a variety of other materials.
This bouquet features: shaballa balls, berry beads, SWAROVSKI crystal, vintage brass and copper filigree, hand painted vintage porcelain beads, glass, crystal, genuine orange jade, vintage filigree rounds, acrylics, genuine mother of pearl, enamel, etched vintage Czech beads, genuine orange JADE, vintage brushed gold rounds, 24K gold gilt paint, gold embossed flower beads, painted enamel and more.
It is important to note the historical significance of these wonderful items from last century. They were made so that the "ordinary" became "extraordinary" and, for the "regular" woman who was not a movie star or rich, beautiful items such as these were NOT out of reach, but were attainable.
This trend happened in housewares and specialty items such as these gorgeous lady head vases, but also in clothing, hats, gloves and in advertising design, which offered exceptionally beautifully decorated tins et al to entice people to buy and allow women who did not have a lot of money to feel and adorn themselves as if they did.
These lady vases were designed to depict and hone in on the delicacy of a stunning woman, and to make every woman feel they could, indeed, themselves, be stunning.
I have attempted to show all different views: front, side, back, top of this marvelous, unique and ONE OF A KIND belle. The last photo shows "a view from the top."
This enchanting lassie would look good and bring life anywhere in your home, and/or be a terrific gift.
A fantastic shower gift or perfect for a table set for tea, a wondrous mother's day or birthday gift: a gift for yourself to brighten any area of your home, this gleaming beauty is a sheer delight in addition to having a fascinating historical significance!
A true vintage beauty!
