Ceramic Platter shops - Centerpiece - Serving Tray

This large handmade platter will look striking as a centerpiece on your dining room table or kitchen countertop. Use it as a serving platter or a fruit bowl, or display it on your mantelpiece. It is sure to become a focal point of your home decor.

It measures 11.25 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall.

I made this serving dish in my Virginia studio. First I made a slab of clay and used various items (a wooden stamp, a place mat, and a rubber roller) to create the quilt-like pattern. I then threw the ring on the potter's wheel and attached it to the patterned slab to create the sides and rim. After the first firing, I used a green, a blue, and a yellow glaze to highlight the three different patterns. Next, I dipped the platter in a shops brown glaze and fired it a second time.
