ARTISTIC CREATION:
Bluish purple? Violetish blue? Hues of purple and black in a sea of dark blue? A color that you find in petunias…? Believe me, it is hard to capture the exact color of many a temple silk woven in South India. And this stunning hand woven scarf is one such.
The floral, leaf weave with the dominant mango shaped motifs of the border are a classic, coming from the temple silks of Kanchi, Pochampalli and Dharmavaram. Whether you are dressing up for a sharp look at a key meeting in the office or if you want a visual stunner to go with your black, evening dress, this is the one for you. Twist it around and drape it around your neck; accentuate your curves by tieing it around your waist like a sash; let it cascade like a river of blue and purple from your shoulder. An absolute must have.

India's textile & fabric traditions go down centuries- the talent of the craftsman and his dedication to his craft, passed on from one generation to another. A weave, a mix of colors, a design or a motif, a print, a piece of applique work- each a labor of love for the artisan.
Artikrti's [meaning 'artistic creations'] mission is to take the fascinating kaleidoscope that is India and get the world shops outside to experience it. And add a stroke of beauty that's different, to each woman's life- to her personal beauty and her home.
Thank you for dropping by. In true Indian tradition, we hope your visit to Artikrti was a pleasurable one and we do hope to see you again in the future.

The fine print:
Measures 22” by 72” approx.
Best Care: Only dry clean
Handwoven fabrics tend to have a thread here or a thread there, which is sticking out or uneven. That is not deemed a defect. It is a mark of the painstakingly difficult art of creating a piece of work, purely by the handmade process. The same goes for complex embroidery, beadwork, mirror work and sequins work, where a bead or sequin may be missing or a tiny mirror's edge may be chipped. Again, not a defect please. This is true for hand printing or hand painting as well- you'd find a tiny spot or smudge of color in some places. The tiny slip of the hand will be so minute and will not take an atom away from the stunning beauty of the piece. [If there is a blemish and if it is prominent, the piece would not be completed nor would we offer it for sale.]
Colors may vary from the digital photograph above.
