This table runner is suitable for both formal or more casual occasions. The bright colours shops and little human figures placed in a row, as if they are dancing, give the table runner a happy carefree look. It will give a touch of colour in all environments, especially in the dining room.
The formation of the "little man" design is very laborious. It involves counting the warp threads and placing the coloured threads forming the design, among them. This is the way all Cypriot traditional Phyti woven designs are made. Nowadays only a few old women in Phyti village on the western side of Cyprus still do Phyti weaving. I am trying to preserve the Phyti technique through this design.
