Vintage hand woven traditional Indonesian Sadum Ulos shoulder cloth scarf from shops the Batak people of Northern Sumatra table runner home decor

A really lovely traditional Indonesian Ulos cloth which I believe comes from the Batak people of Northern Sumatra. I do not know its origin as I picked it up from a flea market in Jakarta but I think it dates from the 1980s?

The Ulos is a traditional cloth normally worn draped over the shoulder or shoulders. These cloths play an important role in Batak communities in that they are ritually used to express affection and sincerity between people. I believe this style of Ulos is called a “sadum” and is used by the Southern Batak group who live around Lake Toba.

Ulos cloth are traditionally hand woven on a back strap loom. This example has been woven in cotton and what feels like a stiffer fabric? (possibly linen) in lovely shades of deep aubergine brown and black with colourful traditional bird and abstract designs in pink, red, blue, yellow and white.
It has tiny glass decorative beads stitched along the edges and at the fringe and two wool pom poms at each corner.
There is text woven at each end but I cant work out what this says as I believe it is from the Batak language.

In good vintage condition. There are some loose threads, some missing glass shops beads and a long thin strip of fading all the way down the cloth (although this could be in the weave?)

The colours are lovely and earthy and the cloth has a good weight to it, and would be great as a table or bed runner.
