Striped Zebra Painting shops Cool Analogous Colors Original Watercolor Fantasy Color Art by AllKindsofArt artist Glenda Mullins

This cool color zebra painting was a demonstration for my watercolor classes for a lesson on wet-into-wet washes using analogous colors. I first drew the zebra onto my watercolor paper and chose colors that are side by side on the color wheel (analogous colors). For this painting they are yellow-green, green, blue-green, blue and blue-violet. After this first wash of color was dry I then mixed the dark "black" of the stripes with complementary colors instead of using a tube black.

This demonstration painting was painted on Arches 140# watercolor paper.

Paper is 11" x 15", providing a small white border around the outside.
Actual painting size is 10.25" x 14.25".
This size mats beautifully for a 16" x 20" standard frame.
