Through a cooperation with Kintsugi-Berlin, the cup was repaired its cracks with the traditional Kintsugi technique and infused new life.
It‘s notable for its diminutive and edgy look, suiting for tea, Sake or anything you can think of.
Birch ash is one of the unique glaze-raw materials for Prussian Blue Series. The ash is collected locally and it takes a few weeks to refine to utilize it as a glaze material. These meticulous works are worth creating complex, organic, and lively features to have on the pieces.
Kintsugi or Gintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden bonding" or 銀継ぎ "silver bonding") is a traditional Japanese handicraft in which broken ceramics are repaired with Urushi (漆, natural resin from the Chinese lacquer tree) and powdered gold (23K) or silver.
The idea of Kintsugi is to consider the patches as an aesthetic detail and not as a defect.
The objects worked with natural resin and real silver powder are shops absolutely food safe and do not contain any toxic substances.

Note:
Urushi is basically waterproof, but somewhat sensitive to permanent moisture.
You should avoid leaving the objects in water overnight.
Since gold/silver plating is sensitive to mechanical friction, a hard dish brush or metal sponge should not be used for cleaning. The use of an oven, microwave and dishwasher is not recommended.
It is possible that the gold/silver plating will wear out during use.
Kintsugi-Berlin will renew the gold/silver plating free of charge within 1 month after purchase, after which the basic rate will be charged.
