shops one of a kind, copper hoops, wrapped with hand-tanned buckskin, sustainability harvested hand polished Oregon abalone, 100% silk, sterling silver and organic cotton comprise these alchemically radiant beauties. Up cycled, natural and sustainable.

Elegant and earthen, I wanted to create something using copper, abalone and buckskin that conveyed the beauty and preciousness of these materials while mixing a casual fanciness. I like things that appeal to both worlds. So these were born. Little sun blossoms, the silk and cotton tassels like the rays of the sun.

To me these are solar- kind of what it looks like to stare into the sun as it's rising, or squinting at it through the droplets of your eyelashes after swimming in a body of water... iridescent and golden, white light.

Copper and buckskin are very grounding materials. Copper is has high thermal and electrical conductivity. So it will warm with you, and buzz with you too.

Hand tanned buckskin is a beautiful, ancient and labor intensive process. It is done by taking the hide (skin) of deer (buckskin is a blanket term for deer leather, but it can be a buck or a doe) and scraping the dermal layers and hair off, washing it, soaking it in a tanning solution (this can be eggs, bark, acorns, brains, etc) wringing it out, stringing it onto a rack and softening for several hours or days, then smoking it to cure. This is just a brief description of this extremely extensive process!

This buckskin was tanned by Dane Bowman, using brains in Colorado. @tule_trails
This abalone was gather and polished by Diver Nicholas De Garmo in Brookings, Oregon @posedionimagery

**we never harvest or kill living abalone. Abalone are an endangered and rare species that should never be taken from the Ocean. These pieces are from SHEDDED shells only. Shells that the abalone have left behind or from abalone that have died of natural causes/been eaten by other species**
