Vintage 1989 DOLFI VERENA Rare All Wood Doll 13 inch Best of Friends Collection from Italy


DOLFI hand made dolls are world famous all wooden dolls that look real, made in the factory Dolfi Ortisei in Val Gardena in the famous region of Trentino South Tyrol, Italy. The first wooden Dolfi dolls were created in 1980.


This beautiful Dolfi is named Verena, one of the Best of Friends Collection. In the debut year of 1988, three Dolfi dolls -Susie, Nadia and Verena- were nominated for the 1988 Doll(s) of the Year Award. Each doll in this collection is 13 inches tall, all wood, hand-carved of maple, hand-painted and all are ball jointed. This collection lasted only one year, from it's intro in 1988 thru part of 1989. This estate doll shops purchased for $469.99.


Verena has 15 solid wood body parts strung together with steel springs so they are very flexible and poseable. Verena has articulated elbows and knees and her head can turn from side to side, with slight movement forward and backward.


The intricate details of her face and hair, all done by hand. Her eyes are stunning. There is so much dimension and detail, and multi-body functioning joints. Her charming outfit was made from Liberty of London fabrics, Swiss batiste, and French Val Laces. She stands by herself or sits. This doll comes without shoes and her right elbow joint has come loose and needs to be re-attached or fixed in a permanent position.
