Note: Pueblo pottery since the late 1800s has become well known as collectible artwork. This has created some conflicts with traditional Pueblo culture. The collectors who buy Pueblo pottery, almost all of whom are non-Hopi, want to know who made the piece and therefore a signature on the pot is important to them. However, traditional Pueblo culture views the individual as a vital part of the whole. Thus personal recognition and signing their artwork has largely been shunned. Many pieces of early collectible Pueblo pottery are not signed. This attitude changed slowly in the twentieth century and recognition of the work of individual potters has now become commonplace.

Condition:
Vintage miniature clay pot from the 1970's in good condition commensurate with its age. Clay pot purchased in Arizona in the 1970's, one owner, has been displayed. No chips, cracks or repairs. Hand-painted design has some smudges and areas where there is paint loss or the shops painted area was not totally filled in at time of creation. Although, there are some imperfections in hand-painting which is part of a handmade item, this is still a nice collectible miniature clay pot. I am downsizing my art collection. Will make a nice addition to an art collection.
