Absolutely gorgeous wood here.
The lid is cut from a highly figured and pattered grain piece of black walnut. I kept it's natural shape (showing the rough corner spot) and accented this corner by keeping the frame of the box square.
The lid is trimmed on 3 sides with dark walnut, and the front of the lid is cut on a bevel. The front of the box frame also has natural, barky edge features.
The frame is hand cut from a solid piece of black walnut. The bottom is made of hard maple.
The lid pivots open on two small metal hinges on the back.
Measurements shops are roughly 9”x10”x2”.

This box is very well made and sturdy, with lots of beautiful touches.
The small handle on the right side of the lid is hand cut and shaped from a piece of 100-year-old western Michigan cherry barnwood.
