shops Painstakingly tiny marquetry designs made until the second half of the 19th century by craftsmen in Tunbridge Wells, England. The marquetry work was very laborious, and involved cutting individual pieces of veneer, which was expensive and time consuming. Narrow strips of various hardwoods were cut and assembled into these beautiful patterns.

Just a hair under 1 inch high and wide, this lovely waxer has the original beeswax cake. The end can be removed to install new wax. Before thread was machine twisted, a thread waxer was necessary to strengthen thread and keep it from tangling during needlework.
