Rag Rug Wood Nymph IV Clouds of petite brown butterflies flit in and out of shafts of light in a sun dappled copse flashing their muted tones of grays and browns. Sorry about the big shaft of light that fell across my rug when I was photographing. Needless to say it does not come with the rug

The weft of this rug is wool and shops wool blend in a Hit or Miss Pattern

Hit or Miss is a traditional pattern done using many different small pieces of fabric. This particular batch was quite large and I estimate uses 30 or 40 shirts and smaller miscellaneous scraps of fabric. This is a very traditional form of Rag Rug. It was a way to blend many smaller pieces into a large rug. I have woven five rugs from this batch Each is unique, but uses the same group of recycled materials.

Warp is done in alternating stripes of dark brown and taupe accented with black
It is a polycotton warp

The size of this rug is 23.5" x 46"

Length of rug does not include the length of hand knotted fringe

My greatest joy in weaving comes in color exploration. Weaving rag rugs allows me to combine colors in ways that I might not have thought of if the "rags" were not in front of me, daring me to put them together.

All my rugs are woven on a large vintage "Weaver's Delight" rug loom built in 1942. The whole house shakes when I am weaving. The designs are my own and I have won several awards for my work. I use all recycled materials in my wefts and either cotton or polyester warp. My rugs are machine washable in warm or cool. It is best to line dry. Give the fringe a good shake to straighten it and hang over a clothesline or rail. With a bit of care this rug will last a good many years.

Shipping is included on this rug when sent within the contiguous United States. I am happy to ship elsewhere. Please contact me before purchase so that I may provide you with an accurate rate.

The sweet little boy in the pic toting his first rug off to kindergarten is my darling Puck (1951-2016) little knowing how many hundreds of rugs he would haul after hitching his star to this weaver. Miss you darling
